Tea Cup

I want to start trying a few of my patterns on items so that I can get a better idea of scale. Here is my first try.

Scatter Brush

Nothing more exciting than discovering the scatter brush. I've done all of these using that tool, who knew it could be so handy! I started out by drawing one stick and berry drawing, then worked with the scatter brush tool, layers and colours to get different effects.

I wasn't happy with my previous raindrop pattern because the pattern brush I created wasn't doing what I wanted it to do. I purchase a handy book, The Vector Brush Sourcebook  , which informed me that I actually needed to create a scatter brush to get the effect I was after. I just learned something new.

Back on track

I haven't been able to design or post any new patterns for almost a week because my back went out! I was so immobile I couldn't even sketch! I tried to remember the multitude of patterns that floated through my mind while on pain killers. There were some good ones that I don't think I'll ever remember or be able to recreate.

I've also taken this opportunity/break to try and get my designs back on track. I've been wanting to explore pattern design without any limitations. But, what I know about myself is that I work better with some boundaries. I've come up with some of my own design guidelines and might just have to write myself a design brief. I'll post that once I do.

Meanwhile, here is one new pattern.

I wanted to experiment with a typographic pattern. This feels like it's been done before, so I will be moving on, trying something different.

Working with a new shape. Not what I was going for, more work to do.

XXL Cross Stitch

I took the large cross stitch, enlarged, overlapped the X's and created this pattern. For some strange reason whenever I wake up with a headache I make very geometric patterns.

I want to experiment with an XL cross stitch pattern. This is just a quick test, I'll try more later.
