8th Pattern Continued

Even though the man and woman designs were done very quickly, I really enjoy them. I want to spend more time with them to try them in different patterns and colours. I also want to take this style and apply it to other items.

I've been busy, but took a few minutes to start playing with colour. It's amazing that just simply changing their colour changes their age. More to come, I promise.

Print & Pattern Blog

While I was in the process of learning all about Print & Pattern design I came across a Print & Pattern blog. I now go to this blog every day since it's constantly being updated with wonderful, delicious patterns.

After reading this blog for a week or so I bought the book, Print & Pattern , based on this blog by Bowie Style. This book literally brought tears to my eyes and I knew at that very moment that I needed to design patterns.

8th Pattern

Finally, new designs to upload! I was feeling bogged down by life and haven't had a chance to create new designs. I spent most of my free time today cleaning up the files of my previous designs so that I could order a bunch of samples. Just as I was about to order samples I found out that I could print 12 swatches at one time for a reduced cost of $20 (usually $5 per swatch). Since I love a deal, I had to create 3 more designs to get my best bang for my buck.

I looked through my sketchbook and found a little drawing of a man and woman (or boy and girl) and this is what I created.

Working

I don't have any exciting visuals to post since I've been busy tweaking my files for print. I am about to order a batch of swatches for some of the design's I've posted.

For Sale!

My first batched of fabrics is now officially available for sale! The Spoonflower people were very helpful in helping me sort out the background cream colour. The files have been updated and are ready to go.

Colour Chart

After a bit of digging I found that I should be using LAB colours and saving my files as TIFFs, not a problem. Though the cream colour Spoonflower listed for the 50s design, isn't given as a LAB colour, very confusing. Still working on that. Meanwhile I will be ordering this colour swatch I found on their website.

Fabric Samples

My very first set of fabric samples just arrived! This is the series of 50s fabric, they look great, but need some tweaking. The size and resolution is good, but the cream background colour is very hard to see. Since I used the colour palette Spoonflower created I assumed the cream colour would be OK. Guess not, now I need to adjust that before I can make them available for sale.
